Accessibility
Everyone should be able to read this book and use this site, including people who use screen readers, magnification, keyboard-only navigation, or reading apps that change fonts and colors.
If something here doesn’t work for you, or you need the book in a format we don’t list, email sales@remupress.com with “Accessibility” in the subject.
The book, edition by edition
EPUB edition
The recommended edition for screen-reader and assistive-technology users. Not yet on sale; this describes the release file.
- Ways of reading
- Text can be resized, and fonts, spacing and colors changed in your reading app. Fully readable by screen readers and text-to-speech. Works with braille displays through your reading app.
- Navigation
- Table of contents with every chapter and back-matter section; each is a real heading, so you can jump between them. Content is in a single logical reading order.
- Images
- The cover and both illustrations have text descriptions. No information is given by images or color alone.
- Hazards
- None: no flashing content, motion, or sound.
- Conformance
- Meets EPUB Accessibility 1.1, WCAG 2.1 Level AA. This is a self-declaration by Remu Press, checked with EPUBCheck 5.1.0 and DAISY Ace (September 2026), not a third-party certification.
- Known limitation
- No page list matching the print edition, so print page numbers can’t be looked up in the ebook.
PDF edition
- Ways of reading
- Fixed page layout. Text is real, selectable text (not scanned images) and can be zoomed.
- Screen readers
- Not optimised: the PDF is not tagged, so screen readers may read it in the wrong order and won’t announce headings or describe the illustrations.
- If you need more
- If you bought the PDF and need an accessible version, email us and we’ll help you get the EPUB.
Free sample (PDF)
The emailed sample is the same untagged PDF format. If you use a screen reader and the sample doesn’t work for you, email us and we’ll help.
Paperback and hardcover
Printed in 11-point EB Garamond on a 6×9 inch page. There is no large-print edition at this time; the EPUB lets you set any text size.
This website
We aim for WCAG 2.2 Level AA. In September 2026 every page was tested with the axe accessibility engine at desktop and phone widths (no violations found), and text color contrast over the site’s gradient backgrounds was measured and corrected.
- Every page works with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline.
- The site respects your device’s “reduce motion” setting.
- Text reflows on small screens and can be zoomed to 200% without losing content.
Known limitations: podcast episodes don’t yet have written transcripts. Automated testing can’t catch everything; if you hit a problem, please tell us.
